North Miami Beach Academy offers two distinct afterschool tennis programs designed to complement your child's regular school schedule while developing their skills on the court. Whether your child is just discovering the game through our Introductory Program or ready to pursue competitive tennis through our Competitive Program, our experienced coaching staff provides the same professional instruction and proven training methodologies that drive success in our full-time academy — from day one.
Both programs run Monday through Friday and are held at the FIU Biscayne Bay Campus courts — the same world-class facility used by our full-time students. Sessions are structured, purposeful, and coached with the same high standards that define everything we do at NMBA.
Introductory Program
Our Afterschool Introductory Program is designed for beginning players ages 5–17 who are ready to learn tennis the right way. Offered five days a week in convenient 3-hour sessions from 4:00–6:00pm (times vary by season), this program serves as the perfect pathway into our other academy offerings.
We begin with the fundamentals of athletic development — teaching balance and coordination, body control, basic conditioning, and building a positive mindset when facing challenges. Using the progressive ball system (Red, Orange, Green, and Yellow), we ensure each player learns with equipment sized appropriately for their age and skill level, maximizing progress from day one.
Our primary goal is simple: players should have fun while learning and performing their best in every activity. We create an encouraging environment where young athletes build confidence, develop a love for the game, and establish the foundation for long-term tennis success.

Players ages 5–17 who are new to tennis, returning after a break, or looking to build solid fundamentals before stepping into competitive play. No prior experience required.
Competitive Program
Tournament-level junior players who are serious about advancing their game — seeking elite-level instruction while maintaining their regular school schedule and academic commitments.
Our Afterschool Competitive Program is designed for tournament-level players who are serious about advancing their game. This intensive training program combines technical refinement, tactical development, and competitive match play to prepare athletes for success in USTA and UTR tournaments.
Sessions focus on advanced stroke mechanics, point construction, mental toughness, and match strategy — while incorporating fitness and conditioning elements essential for competitive performance. Players train alongside our high-performance athletes and benefit from the same professional coaching staff and proven methodology that has produced successful tournament competitors.
This program serves as an ideal training solution for dedicated junior players who want elite-level instruction while maintaining their academic commitments — and can also serve as a transition point into our full-time academy programs for those ready to take their tennis to the highest level.
