About Jimmy
Jimmy Sollertieri began his career as one of the original staff members at the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy — a position that lasted three decades and cemented his place as one of the most experienced Bollettieri-style coaches in the world. He was also deeply involved in Bollettieri corporate events worldwide throughout that time.
From 1980 to 1988, Jimmy served as Director of IMG NBTA Camps — Bollettieri's renowned summer camps — overseeing all operations. He is only second to his father in terms of experience running Bollettieri-style camps and academies, making him one of the most uniquely qualified clinicians in the history of the sport.
From 1986 to 1989, Jimmy was one of two Bollettieri traveling team coaches on the ATP Tour. His roster included Jim Courier — former World #1 and Hall of Fame inductee — as well as David Wheaton, Mark Knowles, Chris Garner, and Martin Blackman, all top-100 ATP players. The depth of talent he developed during this period is a testament to his coaching vision and ability.
From 2002 to 2014, Jimmy served as Principal and Head Tennis Director at GSI Bollettieri, operating across Flamingo Park in South Beach and North Shore Park in Miami Beach — a combined total of 30 courts with a staff of 25. He conducted and oversaw all clinics, tennis programs, and recreational camps, building a clientele that was both international and deeply rooted in the local Miami community. Operations grossed $800,000 annually under his leadership.
Beyond coaching, Jimmy is an accomplished professional photographer who has combined his knowledge of sport with artistic vision to photograph some of tennis' greatest legends — Borg, Connors, McEnroe, Sampras, Agassi, Federer, and Nadal. His work has appeared on covers and spreads for the Tennis Channel and ESPN, and has been exhibited in galleries, tennis clubs, and the Sony Ericsson player lounge, Nike's corporate suites, and the US Open in New York. Jimmy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Photography from the University of Miami.
