Education Designed Around Your Child
At NMBA, no two students follow exactly the same path. Our teachers understand that every student learns differently — and our model is built to accommodate that reality.

Small Group Instruction

Classes of 6 to 8 students allow teachers to give focused, individual attention to every learner every single day.

Individualized Learning Plans

Each student receives a customized learning plan developed collaboratively with teachers, students, and families.

Continuous Progress Monitoring

Regular assessments and check-ins ensure each student is advancing at the right pace — accelerating where they excel, supporting where they need it.

Flexible Pacing

Students move through material at a pace that matches their readiness — never held back, never rushed past mastery.

Comprehensive Learning Style Assessments

We begin each student's journey with comprehensive assessments that form the foundation for creating truly personalized learning plans.

Academic Proficiency

Baseline assessment across all core subjects to identify strengths and growth areas.

Strength & Development

Understanding each student's natural strengths and preferred ways of learning.

Learning Modalities

Identifying whether a student learns best visually, auditorily, or kinesthetically.

Goals & Challenges

Collaborative goal-setting with students and families to align academic plans with future aspirations.

Tech & Digital Literacy

Assessing digital readiness to ensure technology integration supports rather than hinders learning.

College Path Planning

Early college readiness assessment to map the academic path toward university admission goals.

Blended Learning Methodology

Modern Learning for Modern Students

We have mastered a sophisticated blended learning approach that seamlessly combines technology, personal instruction, and collaborative learning — achieving individualization, efficiency, and genuine student engagement every day.

The Dynamic Learning Model
Three Pillars of Every Lesson
Every lesson at NMBA is built around three interconnected pillars — technology, personal instruction, and collaboration — working together to create deeper understanding and longer retention.

Technology Integration

Digital tools and adaptive learning platforms that personalize content delivery and allow students to learn at their own optimal pace.

Personal Instruction

One-on-one and small group teaching from experienced educators who know every student by name, strength, and learning style.

Collaborative Learning

Structured peer learning opportunities that build communication skills, critical thinking, and the ability to work effectively with others.

Technology as a Tool, Not a Replacement
Smart Tools in Service of Great Teaching
Technology at NMBA enhances — never replaces — the human connection between teacher and student. Our tools are carefully selected to support learning outcomes, not distract from them.

Adaptive Learning Platforms

Software that adjusts difficulty and content in real time based on each student's responses and progress.

Digital Resources

Access to curated digital libraries, interactive textbooks, and multimedia content across all subject areas.

Collaborative Tools

Shared digital workspaces that support group projects, peer review, and real-time teacher feedback.

Research Assistance

Guided access to research tools and databases that develop independent inquiry and critical evaluation skills.

Creative Applications

Design, writing, and presentation tools that allow students to express learning in multiple formats.

Progress Tracking

Real-time dashboards for teachers and families to monitor student progress, attendance, and learning milestones.

Block Scheduling for Deep Learning

Extended class periods give students and teachers the time to go beyond surface-level coverage — enabling genuine mastery, project-based exploration, and meaningful discussion.

Deep Engagement

Extended time allows students to fully immerse in a topic rather than rushing through material.

Complete Projects

Students can begin and finish meaningful work within a single session — reducing fragmentation.

Multi-Instruction Types

Time for direct instruction, independent practice, group work, and assessment all within one block.

Breadth & Transitions

Fewer subject transitions per day means less cognitive load and stronger focus on each topic.

Review & Consolidation

Time built in for students to review, ask questions, and consolidate understanding before moving on.

Teacher Connection

Longer periods allow teachers to check in individually with each student during every class.

2-Hour Block Structure
Intro & Review 20–30 min.
Deep Instructional / SEL Demonstration 60–70 min.
Practice / Collaborative Review 20–30 min.
Small Group and Individual Instruction
The Right Type of Instruction at the Right Time
Our teachers fluidly move between instruction formats — matching the approach to the content, the student, and the moment. This flexibility is what makes NMBA's model uniquely effective.

Small Group Instruction

Teacher-led instruction with 6 to 8 students — allowing for real dialogue, immediate feedback, and targeted support for every learner in the room.

Individual Coaching

One-on-one teacher time with each student — identifying gaps, reinforcing strengths, and keeping every student moving forward on their personalized plan.

Collaborative Learning Groups

Peer-to-peer learning structured around shared problems and projects — building communication, teamwork, and leadership alongside academic content.

Lecture-Style Sessions

Occasional larger group sessions (up to 20:1) for introductory concepts, guest presentations, and shared learning experiences that benefit from a broader audience.

This flexible approach ensures students receive the right type of instruction at the right time — providing both individual depth and collaborative breadth that prepares them for university and beyond.

Who Thrives at NMBA Academics

Is Our Personalized Approach Right for Your Child?

NMBA works exceptionally well for certain students — and we believe in being honest with families about fit. Here's a clear picture of who thrives in our environment.

Understanding the NMBA Student
Our Students Include
NMBA attracts students from a wide range of backgrounds and goals — united by a common need for personalized attention and a flexible, high-quality academic environment.

The Passionate Pursuer

Students who train seriously in a sport, art, or discipline outside of school and need an academic program that works around their commitment — not against it.

  • High-performance tennis players training at an outside academy
  • Gymnasts, dancers, or musicians with demanding training schedules
  • Young entrepreneurs or creatives with non-traditional goals

The Individual Learner

Students who learn differently — whether advanced, behind, or simply outside the norm — and thrive when instruction is adapted to their unique pace and style.

  • Students who need to accelerate beyond grade-level content
  • Learners who need more time and support in certain subjects
  • Students diagnosed with learning differences who need a flexible setting

The Lost in the Crowd

Students who are capable but overlooked in large traditional classroom settings — who need a teacher who actually knows them and can unlock their potential.

  • Quiet students who rarely speak up in large classes
  • Students whose grades don't reflect their true capability
  • Learners who have simply never had a teacher's undivided attention

The Confident Independent

Self-motivated students who do their best work in smaller, quieter environments where they can focus deeply without the distractions of a large school.

  • Students who prefer working independently with teacher guidance
  • Highly self-directed learners who find large schools overstimulating
  • Students pursuing dual enrollment or early college pathways

The Ready for Fresh Start

Students who need a new environment — whether recovering from a difficult school experience, relocating, or simply ready to leave a setting that wasn't working.

  • Students transferring from schools where they struggled socially or academically
  • International students seeking a U.S.-accredited program with F-1 visa support
  • Students who need a reset in a smaller, more supportive community

The Family Focused

Families who prioritize a close-knit school community where parents are known, communication is direct, and their child is never just a number.

  • Families who want regular, meaningful contact with teachers
  • Parents who want to be actively involved in their child's learning plan
  • Families relocating who want a stable, welcoming academic home

What All Successful NMBA Students Share

Willingness to take ownership of their education
Openness to working closely with teachers and peers
Appreciation for personalized attention and direct feedback
Readiness to engage in small group and independent settings
Motivation to pursue learning and personal development
College preparation as a priority for their future
When NMBA May Not Be the Right Fit

We Believe in Honest Conversations About Fit

  • Students who thrive in large, highly social school environments with many extracurricular programs
  • Families seeking a traditional large-campus school experience with varsity sports teams and large graduating classes
  • Students who need intensive on-site therapeutic or behavioral support beyond what a small academic setting can provide
  • Families whose schedules require extended before and after-school care beyond our program hours
For students who may need additional support, we will always do our best to connect families with appropriate resources and alternative programs during our admissions conversations.

Our small class sizes and individualized learning plans make NMBA naturally well-suited for students who learn differently. We begin each student's journey with a comprehensive learning style assessment to understand how they learn best, and we adapt instruction accordingly. While we are not a therapeutic or special needs school, our flexible model supports a wide range of learners who thrive with personalized attention and a structured yet adaptable environment.
What is your homework policy? +
We believe in purposeful homework — assignments that reinforce learning rather than consume a student's evening. We aim to make the process straightforward and family-centered — rolling enrollment means there's no rigid deadline to meet.
